Ducks win Rose Bowl 28-27 on Badgers miscues and turnovers

Oregon came out hot on its opening drive with Justin Herbert scoring a touchdown on a 4 yard run. This was to be the theme of the day for the Ducks as Herbert’s legs carried the Ducks to three rushing touchdowns. Herbert was only 14 of 20 for 138 yards with no passing touchdowns and one interception. The Ducks only has 204 yards of offense and one wonders how they managed to win the game. It was all Wisconsin miscues and turnovers that created an improbable scenario for the Ducks to prevail on so little offense. Another Herbert touchdown was a three play 33 yard drive following a Badger interception. The third Herbert touchdown and game winner came on a Badger fumble. In addition to the Herbert rushing touchdowns, the Badger punter dropped a snap and a Duck player scooped it up for another touchdown. The game wasn’t pretty but this Duck team is more like an old school punch in the nose and physically beat the opponent than the high octane offense of Duck teams of yore. This could be a winning formula in a PAC 12 conference that has forgotten the beauty of smash mouth football. Oregon defended the Rose Bowl and “pulled the fat from the fire” for a weakened conference. The BIG 10 is now 4-12 in the Rose Bowl since 2000.

  1. Mike Leach to Miss St???? Watching it right now. He looks half asleep ringing a cowbell. There’s like 18 people there. Shouldn’t be too much different from WSU. The beatings will just be more regular and a bit more severe!!! He will bring cougn it to the SEC!!!!

  2. UW hires new OC. He led Penn St to near dead last finishes in offensive production. The story was about the sanctions but his successor promptly turned it around and finished in top 25 for scoring offense. A very questionable hire for Jimmy Lake. I’m not psyched………
