Seattle Sounders entered the game with a decisive home field advantage at Qwest Field with 69,274 determined fans to rock the stadium with oppressive guttural chants and booming cheers that reigned over the opposing Toronto FC. After dominating the first half in time of possession and play, the Toronto FC were unable to take advantage and the score was 0-0 at the half. The second half started out much the same but then something rare and stunning occurred when Seattle scored a goal off a deflection of a Toronto player. The old adage it’s “better to be lucky than good” came to mind. This however was not the case in short order as Seattle scored another goal to make it 2-0. Any protest over the first goal became minor as Seattle scored another goal to make it 3-0. Toronto scored a goal late to bring the score to 3-1, but it was a case of too little too late. Seattle Sounders win the 2019 MLS Cup to the deliriously happy record crowd to ever witness a sporting event at Qwest Field.
