The Kraken and The Stars meet in the Second Round of the 2023 Hockey Playoffs

The Seattle Kraken finished the regular season with a 20-16-4 record at home. They went 26-11-4 on the road. Their home record was the worst of any playoff-bound team in the NHL. The Stars won two of the three regular season meetings between the teams. They also have home-ice advantage in the series. The Kraken will need to find a way to slow down the Stars’ top line of Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, and Joe Pavelski. If they can do that, they will have a chance to win the series. The Kraken have a few players who could make a difference in the series. Yanni Gourde is a skilled forward who can score goals and create plays. Jared McCann is another forward who can contribute offensively. The Kraken’s defense is led by Mark Giordano, who is a former Norris Trophy winner.  Jake Oettinger and Philipp Grubauer are two of the best goalies in the NHL. Oettinger was named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for April, and Grubauer was a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2021. Both goalies will need to be at their best if their team wants to win the series.
